Frequently
Asked Questions
Information and answers to questions you may have to help you make informed decisions
Q: How do I know when it’s time to get a new roof?
Δ: On the exterior: if you notice any missing, cracked or curling shingles. On the interior: peeling paint, stains or water drops from the ceiling.
Q: How do I choose the best roofing company?
Δ: It's important to do research. Today it's easy to check out a company's credentials online on their website and through reputable sites like Angie's List, Yelp and The Better Business Bureau. Make sure your contractor has worker’s compensation and liability insurance, and can provide a list of references and photos. Get estimates that you can compare and remember that the lowest is not always the best — it's important that you get quality materials and expert workmanship.
Q: How long does it take to install a new roof?
Δ: It could take anywhere from a day to a few days depending on the size and complexity. The time involved is considerably affected by the weather.
Q: How much will a new roof cost?
Δ: Pricing is affected by several factors:
- Size of the house and square footage and shape of the roof.
- The type of materials desired: slate (more expensive), shingle or flat roof.
- Any known existing problems or complications that are discovered once work begins.
At Galil we do a thorough analysis — up on the roof — which includes taking measurements and photos to review with you. This provides the basis of our estimate, given in writing, so you can have a clear understanding of how much your new roof will cost.
Q: I have a leak in my roof, what should I do?
Δ: Leaks are a a clear indication of a problem, whether from weather conditions or fallen debris, and should be addressed as soon as possible. You should call a professional roofing company to inspect your roof to determine where the leak is and what the best option is. Galil provides this service and give you a written cost estimate, FREE of charge.
Q: What does it mean when my gutters are leaking?
Δ: Leaks can be an indication that there are holes in your gutters, the miters (corners) are not sealed properly or the gutters are filled with debris. They should be professionally cleaned and inspected to see if replacements or resealing is necessary to avoid further problems. Galil provides total Gutter & Leader services that include: cleaning, flushing out of debris, renailing and/or resealing of gutters and replacement of parts. To avoid problems from happening, it's important to have your gutters and leaders cleaned regularly throughout the year. For savings, check out our 3-Season Gutter/Leader Special.
Q: Does Galil have Liability Coverage, Current License and Workers’ Insurance?
Δ: Yes. All reputable, professional roofing companies must be licensed and protected by the state and most importantly be able to provide Liability Coverage. Current License and Workers compensation upon request.
